A CHARTER ORDINANCE EXEMPTING THE CITY OF GREENSBURG, KANSAS, FROM THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 45 OF CHAPTER 274 OF THE SESSION LAWS OF KANSAS OF 1968, WHICH SECTION AMENDED K.S.A. 15-1302, RELATING TO THE ELECTION AND TERMS OF THE MAYOR AND TWO COMMISSIONERS IN CITIES OF THE THIRD CLASS ADOPTING COMMISSION GOVERNMENT; PROVIDING SUBSTITUTE AND ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS ON THE SAME SUBJECT, RELATING TO THE ELECTION AND TERMS OF THE MAYOR AND TWO COMMISSIONERS FOR SAID CITY AND THE PRESIDING OFFICER.
Section 1. That the City of Greensburg, Kansas, under the authority of Article 12, Section 5 of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, hereby elects to exempt itself from and to make inapplicable to it Section 45 of Chapter 274 of the Session Laws of Kansas of 1968, which applies to said city but the provisions of which do not apply uniformly to all cities, and to provide substitute and additional provisions on the same subject, as hereinafter set forth in this ordinance.
Section 2. That the mayor, one commissioner of finance, revenue and public utilities, and one commissioner of streets, alleys and public improvements shall constitute the board of commissioners and governing body of said city, and the mayor shall be the presiding officer. They shall be elected for terms of three years, and shall hold their offices until their successors are qualified. The governing body member elected in the year 1966 shall have a term expiring in 1969. The governing body member elected in the year 1967 shall have a term expiring in 1970. The governing body member elected in the year 1968 shall have a term expiring in 1971.
